Leveling from 1 to 60 is quite easy nowadays, there are many XP bonuses and you can get to Outlands in quite a short time. However, when you reach the Outland zones, once you pass level 60, and furthermore, when you pass to Northrend, you might want to enhance you advancement by completing one or two dungeons.

To gain a high amount of XP in instances, it’s best to aim for the ones with a heavy load of trash mobs. Those are the instances from 60 to 80 that I’m going to point out here.

So, here’s my dungeon leveling path for Outland and Northrend:

58-60 – Hellfire Ramparts.

60-64 – The Underbog. Excellent place to rise your Herbalism. Also, pick up all the Sanguine Hibiscus and sell it in stacks of  5.

64-67 – Mana-Tombs. If you’re an enchanter, you’ll get a chance to get the Formula: Enchant Boots – Fortitude.

67-70 – Shadow Labyrinth and/or The Botanica.

70-73 – The Nexus.
73-76 – Drak’Tharon Keep.
76-79 – Halls of Stone.
79-80 – Caverns of Time: The Culling of Stratholme.

If you join groups for these instances when your character is within the level range mentioned, your effectiveness in a group will be optimal and the XP/time rate, maximized.

I’m not going to reveal here any fast leveling methods, but a few tips that will improve your gameplay once you reach higher levels.

You probably know that there are many factions in World of Warcraft. Well, while leveling it’s best to do as many quests as possible for a certain faction that you can come across in some of the zones in the game. By completing quests for a faction, your reputation with that particular faction will increase and you’ll become eligible for various items that they sell.

The best items to farm reputation for are recipes. Most players focus on leveling as fast as possible and they skip their reputations and lately not many have the old recipes in the game. So, by gaining just honored and revered with factions like Sha’tar or Consortium, you will be able to  get nice recipes that will bring you a lot of gold.

Here are a few recipe and cool items that you should grind reputation for while leveling, to improve your character:

Sha’tar (Dalaran)

Enchant Gloves – Major Healing
Enchant Ring – Healing Power
Enchant Weapon – Major Healing
Pattern: Drums of Battle

Lower City (Dalaran)

Enchant Ring – Stats
Recipe: Elixir of Major Shadow Power
Enchant Cloak – Dodge

The Consortium (Nagrand – Aeris Landing)

Enchant Cloak – Spell Penetration
Enchant Weapon – Major Striking
Pattern: Fel Leather Boots
Pattern: Fel Leather Leggings

Cenarium Expedition (Zangarmarsh – Cenarion Refuge)

Enchant Gloves – Precise Strikes
Cenarion War Hippogryph (cool mount)

Timbermaw (Winterspring – Timbermaw Hold)

Enchant Weapon – Agility
Enchant 2-h Weapon – Agility

I’m sure this short WoW leveling guide has helped at least a little. I hope you’ve changed your view on leveling a little bit and won’t  neglect the reputation with a few important factions in the game while leveling up. However, don’t insist too much on grinding reputation with a certain faction if you’re leveling up, unless you really really need an item that requires an exalted level.

Badlands

Another old zone that have suffered major changes after the Cataclysm, is Badlands. Old quest hubs were relocated and there were added new quest hubs and flight paths. So, here’s a short Cataclysm leveling guide which shows a few of the changes here.

Here are some of the important changes when it comes to the leveling path.

The old Horde settlement, Kargath, was completely destroyed, apparently by an avalanche. The place where it used to be is now occupied by black dragon whelps, similar with the ones found in Lethlor Ravine, before the patch. In fact, this is a pretty nice farming spot for a skinner. The whelps drop Rugged and Thick Leather, and if you’re lucky enough you might even get a Dark Whelpling here, a pet that sells nicely.

A new Horde fortification was built though, New Kargath, not very far away from the old location, you can’t miss it, it’s big. There are a couple of very fun quests in Badlands. You will get an escort of three NPC’s that ride on choppers, which have quite many funny punch lines. Fun quest chain, you shouldn’t skip it.

An Alliance quest settlement was also added, South-East from New Kargath. It’s called Dragon’s Mouth. Therefore, although Horde used to own Badlands before Cataclysm, and there weren’t too many quests for Alliance here, apparently the Alliance is extending their influence here.

There’s also a neutral quest hub, goblin-themed, near the old Lethlor Ravine, which remained pretty much the same. There’s a flight master here and quite a few quests to complete for both Alliance and Horde.

Un'Goro Crater

Due to the old zone changes brought to World of Warcraft by the Cataclysm, some of your leveling paths (including mine, of course) have changed more than a little bit. There are new quest hubs, or some of the old hubs were relocated.

So, I’m going to speak about the questing changes in one of my favorite leveling zones, here – Un’Goro Crater, writing here a brief general Cataclysm leveling guide for this zone.

The most important change, in my opinion, is the re-location of the one and only camp that was existent here in the pre-Cataclysm days, Marshal’s Refuge. The old location of this camp was destroyed by stone golems. The new Marshal’s Refuge, called now Marshal’s Stand, is South-East from Fireplume Ridge. There’s also an innkeeper NPC here now and you can rest your toon in Un’Goro. Before Cataclysm, I hated the fact that I had to always teleport to Tanaris to rest my toon in the inn there.

The Devilsaurs, are not so devilish anymore. They now have a “mommy”, much fierce than them, the Devilsaur Queen.

New quest hubs were added. There’s a neutral one, Mossy Pile, North-West from Fireplume Ridge, which also has a flight path. At Golakka Hot Springs, new quest givers were added, turning this place into a nice quest hub. As far as it concerns the level range of this zone, it’s pretty much the same.

If you’re leveling up a character, riding skills are the first and most important skills that you should invest in after training your character. Having a fast mount, you’ll be able to move much faster between quest hubs or between questing locations.

Once you reach level 60, you’re eligible for the first flying, Expert Riding, and you should train it ASAP. Even if it grants you only 150% flying speed, you can still avoid plenty of obstacles and all the aggro between two points on your questing path and this way, your traveling will be improved by a lot.

When you pass to the zone of Northrend, even if you don’t have the money to buy the Artisan Flying Skill, it’s still a good idea to farm the amount you need for the Cold Weather Flying which will allow you to fly your normal flying mount in Northrend. This stands for the Azeroth Flying skill, if you’re leveling up in the Cataclysm zones.

If you have the gold ready for the Artisan Flying skill and also the Master Flying skill, these investments into your character aren’t bad at all, especially while you’re still leveling. Having 310% speed will surely help you burn quests a lot quicker.

I hope these WoW leveling tips were helpful. Anyway, if you want to reach level 85 in less than  days, you’ll be needing a professional WoW leveling guide.
